Make a Difference

We believe books have the ability to inspire young people while educating, enlightening readers about their history or for others, truths they don’t live. They also are able to share positive stories of those they may not see; of both themselves and others regularly in mainstream society. This is why we believe Black Books Matter is an important way to educate and inspire young people of all backgrounds on the African Diaspora. Our aim is to ensure every young person feels unique while creating open minds.

We are currently putting touring our Towards Transformational Programme around London, and have already raised £10,000 which covers 40 hours of creative writing programmes for young people 8 teacher/community workshops in Anti Racism & Creative Delivery.

The total cost of this project is £35, 000 and while we have raised £10,000 we re still looking for an additional £25,000 to go ahead with the production which makes up a large part of the transformational package. Often a lot of funding applications support the workshops we facilitate, however not the artistic and the creative element of our Children's show.

We believe theatre, song, music and play is a large part of storytelling and one we are extremely passionate about at Black Books Matter UK.
