LITERARY LEADERS
(Frederick Bremer Summer School)

Over four days with our facilitator Desree Gumbs-Carty the young people explored the importance of creating diversity in the literary industry to explore and be able to articulate “Black books matter because....” for the final film. Through the week the young people explored a range of writing styles including writing two hander plays. They explored a range of extracts and texts from different styles of writing and media such as  Afropean by Johnny Pitts, Ear for an Eye, Jamila Lyiscott – 3 ways to speak English.

Below you can see the final piece the young people worked towards looking at “Black books matter because...”
